Quick Item Swap
I'm tired...
If I find an item I like for one of my other characters this is what I must do (unless I'm really missing something)...
-Put it in storage.
-log out
-log in
-select char
-get it from storage.
I really would like a Quick Character Swap.
It can be in the menu somewhere, it will pop up like when you press "M" for the large map. It will show a screen, like the character selection screen, but with and option to open inventories and storage for quick dragging and dropping.
This would work like storage where you can only access it in a town, not explorable areas.
So then I could....
Open Quick Character Swap (or whatever you wanna call it),
and swap until your heart is content,
No logging out, no retyping password, no logging in, no running to storage. Minutes are reduced to seconds.
I'm not sure if this has already been suggested but I know I would use it a lot.

they dont do this for security issues, same reason you have to log out to switch charachters. that way, if you leave your account open or something, someone who gets access to it cant just switch guys and clean you out completely

...well then the character your logged in with can only extract items from his inventory to another. You can't get items only give. And gold cannot be exchanged during this.
I guess i don't see how you can get cleaned out though. It's your account, your giving or taking stuff from one part of your account to another.

He means something like if you leave your character on afk and decide to go shopping or something. And while you go shopping, say some thief decides to break into your home and find that you have guild wars on. Now this thief just happens to love guild war and has his own computer with him so he plugs in his computer and opens up guild wars and then transfer all of your items and gold to his account. Then if you could just switch characters then he would be able to completely clean you out while the way it is now he can only clean out the one character you left on.
So of course, you come home to find your house ransacked but at least 3 of your characters in guild wars still have their items and gold.

I can't really agree, I've never thought it to be so much of a pain to where ArenaNet needs to do something about it. It doesn't take long at all to go through with the five steps you outlined. Perhaps if one's computer tends to load slow, it could be an annoyance; but to the majority it's not much of an inconvenience.

that's a really really funny example. I'm looking for your *sarcasm* tag, but I can't find it.... were you serious???

And that's how long it can take for everything to disappear. I don't exactly know how it works, but i'm assuming ppl can hack into your account mid game and take all of your stuff...

This is a good idea. I think an improvement on it could be to have a button that would pop a screen up that allows you to switch characters without having to log off and on again. This wouldn't be a full size screen like the map, but a screen the sized of the party box.

Password Flag
While probably a little insecure...you can add a password flag to your Guild Wars Shortcut that will autofill your password.
See: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ad.php?t=94814
If you do this flag, when you log out, there is a few second delay, but you get logged in without having to retype your password.

Well... the scenario I described can certainly happen, just with a very very miniscule chance of happening. But it's there to illustrate perhaps why Anet does it. (They don't want people complaining that "OMG I lost everything and because you didn't have security, I lost Everything online too" or something like that) Although probably it's more for for hacker protection than anything else. (although I don't how they would hack you really but I guess it can be possible)
However, the present system can be a bit inconvenient, I would suggest something like perhaps a button to switch characters but would require your password to do so. But really though, this doesn't bother me too much I would much rather anet fix other problems first, this one can be kept on the back burner.

swapping items isn't that hard. It's not so hard and such a long process that you need to speed it up. Also it is there for security. It doesn't need to be changed.
